You are receiving this email because over the past year, our paths have crossed in the tile and stone business. If you do not wish to receive any further emails from me, please reply 'no' and I'll do the necessary.
As you know, since arriving in the Bay Area a bit over a year ago, I have been focused on the purchase of an established tile business in Berkeley. In the end, the owners and I could not get the deal across the finish line. However my time there only served to deepen my passion and commitment to the Tile & Stone Industry.
Therefore, I am thrilled to be launching my own Tile & Stone company: Stillwater Tile & Stone.
The name Stillwater was inspired by a Yeats quote that my wife and I have always loved. Yeats lived about 30 miles from where I was born and raised and has been ever present in my life. We often visit his grave when we are home and his descriptions of Ireland reflect the beauty of the West of Ireland that is forever with me. It is in Yeats’ country where my family entered the stone business 10 generations ago and where my love of this business sprang to life. This quote perfectly encapsulates my feelings at this juncture of my journey. It also resonates with the goal of our company to be a place where end users, contractors, developers and designers receive knowledgeable and clear support in the purchase process backed up by efficient, value-for-money service.
We can make our minds so like still water that beings gather about us so that they may see their own images and so to live for a moment with a clearer, perhaps even with a fiercer life because of our quiet.”
– W.B. Yeats
I have a few exciting first steps in the hopper. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I’ll be able to inform you of my new storefront, my first employee and more. We are going to move as quickly as possible and look forward to fostering a strong business relationship with you as we build.
All the best,
For those that do not know me that well:
I am from Boyle, County Roscommon, where my family has been in the Natural Stone Industry for 10 generations. In 1998 I attended the Haas School of Business at Berkeley where I met my wife, Carla. We were married in 2002 and spent 2002 through 2013 in Europe (Belgium, Ireland and Switzerland) where I worked in the Natural Stone Sector. Our two boys were born in Ireland and have settled well into our new life in Oakland.
